Dear Parents and Guardians of Frankford High School Students:

Welcome to the 2020-2021 school year! I hope that this letter finds you well and that you have all been able to enjoy  your summer as much as possible during these difficult and uncertain times. Our entire Frankford staff has been working hard to plan and can’t wait to “see” our wonderful students. In addition to welcoming everyone “back to school”, I want to provide you with some important information regarding the upcoming school year.

The first day of class for our students is Wednesday, September 2nd. As you are all aware, the year will begin in a virtual learning format. Please note that unlike last year, each day will begin at our regular start time of 8AM. Students will follow their normal A/B Day roster on a modified bell schedule. We have very high expectations for teaching and learning this year, more than ever, to work to close any gaps that may have developed due to our unexpected change to virtual learning in the Spring.

If you do not currently have a district issued chromebook or do not have internet service, the district has created a system to assist you with those crucial pieces to digital learning. Please check these two links for more information on how you can get access to these if you don’t currently have them.

Students are expected to log in by 8AM on September 2nd to their classes. They will be able to find the link to the live sessions in their Google Classrooms. All of the crucial information our students and families need is included on both the Frankford website  https://frankfordhs.philasd.org and the SDP’s website https://www.philasd.org .

Students are expected to participate in all of their classes everyday. Most of the time students will learn in a synchronous fashion (live interaction with the teacher) while portions will be asynchronous (students complete work on their own). On Fridays in  September and October, students will engage in fully synchronous instruction with the teacher in the morning and engage in asynchronous work from 1-3PM.

This year more than ever, I am urging you to check our website and social media accounts on: Twitter: @FrankfordHS; Instagram: frankfordhs; Facebook: @FrankfordHighSchool,  frequently (if not daily) as new information will be posted as it becomes available.

Our 9th grade virtual orientation will take place on Monday, August 31, 2020 beginning at 12:30 PM. A link to orientation will be posted on the Frankford website and on all social media platforms.

I look forward to seeing you all at our virtual “Back to School Night” on Wednesday, September 16, 2020 at 5:30 PM.

Respectfully Yours,

Dr. Michael J. Calderone, Principal
